Meet Local CMN Champion – Julie Rose
Julie Rose is a warrior. She’s dealt with multiple disorders all her life, including Pierre Robin sequence (a set of facial abnormalities); a bilateral cleft lip and palate; an unexplained all-over skeletal dysplasia; hearing loss; eating dysphasia (difficulty swallowing) that resulted in the placement of a G-tube; irregular satellites on at least a chromosome or two; severe micrognathia (undersized lower jaw); and ankyloglossia, also known as tongue-tie.
In addition, she was born prematurely at 34 weeks and very underweight. All that going on at once couldn’t stop her. No matter how glum her prognosis was when she was airlifted to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in December 2016, she never gave up. She’s had multiple procedures, been in the operating room on numerous occasions and made it through a 92-day hospital stay. But her challenges don’t define this little girl — her spirit does.
Julie Rose is generous, resilient and incredibly attuned to the feelings of others. She gives hugs to anyone who seems to need one, hands out “besos” (kisses), high-fives, fist bumps and pinky promises, and loves to sing and dance. Along with her family, Julie Rose has enjoyed
fundraising for CHLA and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at a number of events.
